MUSCATINE, Iowa (KWQC) – A man is under investigation, accused of tinkering with with the odometers of cars before selling them in Muscatine.

Deputy Director Mike Athey from the Iowa Department of Transportation tells KWQC they are investigating a case of title and odometer fraud.

The IDOT Bureau of Investigation and Identity Protection says the man has been selling used cars unlicensed off of Craigslist. Investigators believe the odometer was altered to show a lower mileage on the cars. He has sold 90 cars in the last 12 months, but investigators aren’t clear how many have been altered. No arrests have been made in this case at this time.

You can count on KWQC to continue to follow this story, and bring you any additional information as it becomes available.
