GALESBURG, Ill. (KWQC) – Fire crews responded to a house fire early Friday morning.
Crews arrived at a home on the 200 block of Knollcrest Drive just after 6:00 AM. Upon arrival, crews saw heavy smoke coming from the eaves and front door of the home.
Fire crews had the fire under control in 30 minutes and remained on scene for another hour checking for hot spots. Fire damage was limited to the basement area. There was heavy smoke damage throughout the home.
The fire appears to have started in the basement. The cause of that fire is under investigation at this time. There was one person home at the time. He was evaluated for smoke inhalation.
